Peter Zeihan
Geopolitical Strategist and Author

Peter Zeihan is a geopolitical strategist, which is a fancy way of saying he helps people understand how the world works. Peter combines an expert understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology and security to help clients prepare for an uncertain future.

Over the course of his career, Peter has worked for the U.S. State Department in Australia, the D.C. think tank community, and helped develop the analytical models for Stratfor, one of the world’s premier private intelligence companies. Peter founded his own firm — Zeihan on Geopolitics — in 2012 to provide a select group of clients with direct, custom analytical products. Today, those clients represent a vast array of sectors including energy majors, financial institutions, business associations, agricultural interests, universities and the U.S. military.

Peter is a critically-acclaimed author whose first two books — The Accidental Superpower and The Absent Superpower — have been recommended by Mitt Romney, Fareed Zakaria and Ian Bremmer. His forthcoming third title, Disunited Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World will be available in 2020.


Jennifer Rodgers
Chief Strategy Officer, Western Area Power Administration
CPI as a Performance Accelerator in a Dynamic Market

Jennifer Rodgers was selected as WAPA’s chief strategy officer in September 2017. Her ability to bring diverse teams together to solve problems and her skills in program development and inclusive leadership drive the implementation of WAPA’s Strategic Roadmap 2024 and guide the organization in meeting its performance goals.

As the chief strategy officer, Rodgers leads strategic planning and implementation activities across WAPA. Additionally, the Strategy Office helps integrate business process improvement, performance measurement, enterprise risk management, and change management and organizational development into WAPA’s business functions.

Rodgers most recently served as program manager for WAPA’s Continuous Process Improvement program, which she founded in 2014. The program leverages the problem-solving methodology of Lean Six Sigma which uses a disciplined, data-driven approach to evaluating business processes while emphasizing value to the customer.

Rodgers began her career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, and then joined the federal government as a civilian in 2009 working for the U.S. Army as an organizational development specialist. In 2010, she served as a Management and Program Analyst and Workforce Planning specialist at the General Services Administration working on organizational excellence issues. She came to WAPA in 2013 as a human resources specialist before building the organization’s CPI program.

Throughout her career, Rodgers has advised senior managers on strategic organizational performance issues and built a reputation for getting things done amid many changes and challenges. Her ability to harness and analyze data-driven information to guide decision-making is a valuable asset to WAPA. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and an MBA from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Carol Sedewitz
Vice President, Electric Asset Management and Planning, National Grid
Distributed System Platform Provider in New York’s New Energy Vision Market

Carol Sedewitz serves as Vice President, Distribution Electric Asset Management and Planning for the Regulated Electric Businesses at National Grid in the US. The Electric Asset Management function includes Distribution Planning and Asset Management, Transmission & Distribution Services, Reliability Analytics, Non-wires Solutions, and Vegetation Management Strategy. Throughout her career Carol has held progressively more responsible engineering leadership roles at National Grid focusing on technical, policy and regulatory matters.

Ms. Sedewitz holds a Masters of Engineering and a Bachelors of Science degree in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics from the State University of New York at Oneonta.

Ms. Sedewitz is a member of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) Board of Directors. Carol is a registered professional engineer in the state of Massachusetts. She is also a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institute of Asset Management.

Mark Mroczynski
Vice President, FirstEnergy
Building and Sustaining an Integrated and Flexible Program Team

Mark Mroczynski began his career at FirstEnergy in 2004 as supervisor of Technical Services for the Bruce Mansfield Power Plant, and became manager of Technical Services for Consolidated Coal Plants in 2006. He was named director of Operations Support for Ohio Edison and Penn Power in 2008 and became executive director of Transmission Programs in 2013. Mark received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from The University of Akron, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Kent State University. He is a professional engineer in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and is a founding director and member of the Association of Iron & Steel Technology (AIST). 

Kim Hanemann
Senior Vice President, PSE&G

Kim Hanemann is responsible for the on-time, on-scope and on-budget execution of large transmission construction projects, which includes overseeing project management, project controls, licensing and permitting, and commissioning. From 2014 to 2018, the portfolio under her management commanded a budget of approximately $6.8 billion, representing the backbone of PSE&G’s growth strategy. Kim also manages key components of the company’s Energy Strong program to increase the resiliency of 29 switching and substations and to protect gas metering and regulating stations affected by Superstorm Sandy or located in flood zones. She also manages new competitive transmission opportunities for PSE&G and the FEMA hardening projects on facilities operated by PSEG Long Island.

Bridget Reidy
Executive Vice President, Exelon

Bridget Reidy is responsible for Exelon’s information and technology function; corporate and information security services; real estate and facilities; transportation department; and supply operations and sourcing for Atlantic City Electric, BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power, PECO, Pepco, Constellation, Exelon Generation and Exelon Business Services Company (BSC). Prior to her current position, Bridget served as senior vice president and chief supply officer of Exelon and oversaw supply operations and sourcing as well as real estate for the enterprise. Before that, she served as senior vice president of customer operations for Exelon Energy Delivery, where she was responsible for all customer operations, including customer care, meter reading, meter services, billing and revenue collection for ComEd and PECO.

Ben Harrison
Vice President of Transmission Engineering and Asset Management, Duke

Ben Harrison is vice president of transmission engineering and asset management for Duke Energy. He is responsible for all design engineering functions for substation, line and relay, as well as asset management, including equipment engineering, system reliability, engineering standards, data management and technical field support in six states served by the company. Ben has 30 years of experience in the energy industry. He joined the company in 1988 and has held various leadership roles in the areas of transmission, distribution, supply chain, engineering, construction, transmission planning, process improvement, business planning and asset management. Before assuming his current position in June 2019, he served as general manager of transmission asset management for Duke Energy.

Phil Moeller
Executive Vice President, Edison Electric Institute
Regulatory Trends for Transmission and Distribution

Phil Moeller is executive vice president of Business Operations Group and Regulatory Affairs at Edison Electric Institute (EEI). Phil is responsible for a broad range of issues that affect the future structure of the electric power industry and new rules in evolving competitive markets. He also focuses on strategic areas of energy supply and finance, environment, energy delivery, energy services, federal and state regulatory issues, and international affairs. Previously, Phil served as a commissioner on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), ending his tenure as the second-longest serving member of the Commission. In office from 2006 through 2015, he ended his service as the only Senate-confirmed member of the federal government appointed by both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. At FERC, Phil championed policies promoting improved wholesale electricity markets, increasing investment in electric transmission and natural gas pipeline infrastructure, and enhancing the coordination of the electric power and natural gas industries.

Jim Schott
Vice President of Transmission, Entergy
Project Execution – Process, Partners and People

Jim Schott is vice president of Entergy Corporation’s transmission function, a role in which he has served since June 2015. Entergy’s transmission system consists of over 15,000 miles of high voltage transmission lines in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and southeast Texas. His scope of responsibilities covers planning, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance of this system.

In Schott’s previous role as vice president of supply optimization with Entergy Services, Inc., he led generation growth initiatives for Entergy’s utility operating companies.

Schott began his Entergy career in 1990 at Gulf States Utilities and has held leadership positions in generation, capital projects, system planning and operations at Entergy.

He also previously served as vice president of power plant operations in the company’s steam and renewables division, where he led more than 500 employees to ensure safe operation and maintenance of 10,000 megawatts of generation.

Schott holds a bachelor of science degree from Loyola University and a master’s of science degree in chemical hazard assessment from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the SERC Board of Directors Executive Committee, Southeast Electric Exchange Executive Committee, and Visiting Committee for the Loyola University College of Arts and Sciences.

Kevin C. Fitzgerald
Partner and Chief Utility Officer, Energy Impact Partners

Kevin Fitzgerald has spent his entire career in the energy industry as a lawyer, senior business executive and now partner and Investment Committee member for Energy Impact Partners (EIP). In his role as chief utility officer, he provides leadership and insight on utility business needs, thereby driving fund strategy on investment. He also works closely with utility investors on commercialization and innovation strategies for new technology and portfolio investments. Furthermore, he helped lead EIP’s first investment in the transportation electrification sector, assuming an active role as Chairman of Greenlots, an electric vehicle (EV) charging company that was ultimately sold to Shell New Energies LLC, garnering a substantial exit to the fund.

Kevin was instrumental in establishing the Alliance for Transportation Electrification, a national trade association of utilities, automakers, charging companies, industrial companies and environmental NGOs. As head of Troutman Sanders’ utility practice, he assisted C-suite executives in transformative new business growth plans, including TEP’s New Energy Ventures and the development/structuring of DTE/International Transmission Company. More recently, as executive vice president and general counsel at Pepco Holdings he assisted the CEO in the turnaround of the company and executed on a business strategy — Utility 2.0 — for managing disruptive technology trends facing the company, which received an award from the Edison Electric Institute. Kevin’s work ultimately led to the company’s sale to Exelon, resulting in a 40% premium to shareholders. He is the previous past chairman of the EEI Technology & Innovation Committee, advisory board member to the Electric Power Research Institute, and a founding member of the U.S. Partnership for Renewable Energy Finance.
