- Adjust the difficulty by limiting the amount of materials available. For example, allow for five tissues and/or cotton balls or limit the use of tape.
- Add an assessment to determine how well each packaging design performed. Collect the following measurements:
- Mass of package (kg/oz)
- Volume of package (cm3/in.3)
- Intactness score (100: fully intact; 50: slightly damaged; 10: broken in 2-5 pieces; 5: broken in 6-20 pieces; 1: broken in 20+ pieces or crumbled)
Calculate the overall score using the following equation (be sure your measurement system is consistent):
[intactness score] * [volume] / [mass] = overall score
The highest overall score indicates the best packaging design.
