The North Fork Crow River Mitigation Bank offers fresh wet meadow and shallow marsh wetland mitigation credits, approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. The approximately 135-acre mitigation bank in Central Minnesota provides offsets for permitted state and federal wetland impacts.
The North Fork Crow River Mitigation Bank site was selected because it offered an opportunity to restore a mosaic of different wetland types that have been altered due to tiling and subsequent agricultural use. The bank restores wet meadow and shallow marsh habitat, enhances existing riparian wetlands dominated by invasive vegetation and establishes an upland buffer of native species. The site is located in Minnesota's Bank Service Area (BSA) 7, near the town of Litchfield in Meeker County and is adjacent to existing wetland conservation areas that connect to the North Fork of the Crow River.
