Integrating Technology and Security By Design

Summary

Security by Design is an innovative approach to the design process for cybersecurity that seeks to harden systems — both hardware and software — by integrating security considerations into engineering and implementation.

The idea is to mitigate risk up front, focusing on preventing cybersecurity incidents rather repairing issues, restoring systems, and adding security controls without proper testing, after cyberattacks occur. This approach is equally applicable to substations, pipelines and other applications in which remote communications are involved, such as electric vehicle infrastructure, distributed energy resources and battery energy storage solutions.

Discover how integrating security into design can make a difference when managing cyberthreats.
