Power Plant Retirement Planning

Summary

Please join us for a live webinar discussing issues utilities must deal with due to the impending closures of fossil fuel-fired power plants.

With a number of federal and provincial mandates now on the books, decommissioning and demolition (D&D) planning for power plants retirement or repurposing is high on the agenda for many utilities. The D&D process presents a unique challenge for utilities as they conduct the work safely, minimize cost and implement site reclamation.

We will discuss the steps for planning and implementing D&D for these facilities, including coordination with utilities' operations staff as well as environmental, security and safety organizations. We will also review permitting issues involving waste disposal, flood plains, demolition, asbestos abatement and common services that need to be isolated prior to demolition.
