Chatham Bars Inn | Chatham, Massachusetts

The Burns & McDonnell Best Practices Forum is an exclusive, invitation-only gathering of senior utility executives, energy market strategy leaders and thought leaders. The Forum examines and shares innovative perspectives and relevant results from candid owners who have completed or are engaged in complex energy programs. Our blend of presentations and panel discussions will address relevant industry topics, including distribution modernization, offshore wind, innovation, resiliency, program management, EPC and the policy road ahead.

New this year: We’re extending our program by a half day, giving you more time to network and absorb our unique blend of insightful presentations.

It was thrilling for us all to resume our annual gathering in Colorado Springs after two years of pandemic disruptions. We are excited to host you and put on another spectacular learning event in fall 2023 on Cape Cod.

Warm regards,

James Amato
Forum Host

Keynote Speaker

2019 Head Shot-1

Peter Zeihan

Geopolitical Strategist and Author

Zeihan on Geopolitics

Peter Zeihan is a geopolitical strategist, which is a fancy way of saying he helps people understand how the world works. Peter combines a keen understanding of demography, economics, energy, politics, technology and security to help clients prepare for an uncertain future.

Over the course of his career, Peter has worked for the U.S. State Department in Australia and for the D.C. think tank community, and he helped develop the analytical models for Stratfor, one of the world’s premier private intelligence companies. Peter founded his own firm — Zeihan on Geopolitics — in 2012 to provide a select group of clients with direct, custom analytical products. Today, those clients represent a vast array of sectors including energy majors, financial institutions, business associations, agricultural interests, universities and the U.S. military.

Peter is a critically acclaimed author whose first two books — The Accidental Superpower and The Absent Superpower — have been recommended by Mitt Romney, Fareed Zakaria and Ian Bremmer. His third book, Disunited Nations: The Scramble for Power in an Ungoverned World, became available in 2020, and his fourth book, The End of the World Is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization, was published in June 2022.
