Building Smarter and Safer for What Lies Ahead

Constraints on resources, combined with the growing need to expand our infrastructure, are making the road to success rough. New Burns & McDonnell Chair and CEO Leslie M. Duke has a plan to leverage people and innovative ideas and technologies to get there smoothly.

“The traditional ways in which we connect and communicate are evolving,” says Leslie M. Duke, chair and CEO of Burns & McDonnell. “Building progressive, sustainable solutions is a tall order — and an opportunity we are eager to tackle.”

In January 2024, Duke became chair and CEO of the employee-owned engineering and construction firm. Building on 24 years of leading a variety of business initiatives in the company, she has a vision for safely meeting the challenges of the near future and beyond.

“The projects we work on are so important to communities — delivering what they need today and preparing for what they need tomorrow,” she says. “I’m incredibly optimistic about what we will accomplish together.”
